Messina, Sicily

Messina, Sicily was a very relaxed stop. There really wasn't much to do there and we were only there for half the day. But a nice calm day was just what we needed since we had had many full days before. :)
Enjoy!

For my family out there we saw this sign Plaza Catalani! We had to take a picture! And for everyone who doesn't know my family, my uncle and aunts last name is Catalani :)
This is the only tourist-y attraction in Messina and is called a Glockenspiel. It is a German word, glocken means bells and spiel means play. :) You can figure out for yourself what it does. :P
This is inside the church to the right of the Glockenspiel.
The ceiling was beautiful!
The art just blew me away! Gorgeous!
All of the columns capitals had different designs!

One side of the tower had a calendar!
It was really cool to try to figure it out.
This is a lovely fountain that we will look at from a distance :P We had to be careful with what we looked at there.
Every day at 12 o'clock the Glockenspiel would do it's chime.
Each gold statue did something. The Lion on top turned his head and roared three times. Then the rooster (below the lion) crowed three times. After this the men on either side of the rooster rang the bells. Then the most beautiful version of Ave Maria started playing. It was gorgeous ya'll!
Us taking our own little tour of Messina. And Max being...Max :P

Pretty flowers :)

We stopped at a cafe and got some drinks and pizza!
This wonderful cafe had internet! (If you bought something, which we did.) So we all got to post on our facebook's, and send some emails!
It was a very nice cafe :)
Messina was a very nice and relaxing place :) And now I can say I've been to Sicily!! :)
